EnHANTs Demo at the ACM MobiSys 2011

Created: Tuesday, 12 July 2011

An EnHANTs demo, titled Prototyping UWB-Enabled EnHANTs, was presented by Jianxun Zhu, Gerald Stanje, Robert Margolies, and Maria Gorlatova in the ACM MobiSys’11 demo session on June 29th, 2011 in Washington, DC.

In this demo, UWB-Enabled EnHANT prototypes were presented. The prototypes communicated in two pairwise links utilizing the custom designed ultra-wideband (UWB) impulse radio (IR) transceiver. Oscilloscopes displayed the UWB-IR baseband signals and modulation scheme in real time. Each prototype was was integrated with a UWB transceiver, an energy harvesting module that allowed demonstrating energy harvesting-adaptive communications, and a MICA2 mote which was used for processing and control of the system. Specially made dimmable light fixtures were used to adapt the environmental energy received by each prototype. A custom-designed monitoring system was used to interactively demonstrate prototypes’ adjustments to environmental energy availability conditions. [ EnHANTs MobiSys 2011 Demo Abstract. ]
